I'll answer any questions and schedule a video call to go over details + determine if we're the perfect fit.
Every couple and wedding is different. So I'll use our conversation to tailor a custom Proposal to suit your needs and your vision.
After you approve the Proposal, I'll send a formal Contract to sign. Then, once I receive a 50% Retainer, we'll officially be booked!
Crucial to ensure everything flows smoothly on your big day.
I'll send a Questionnaire for logistics & have at least one in-depth conversation where I get to know your story & your vision. We'll create a game-plan so there are no surprises. You'll be free to be completely present for your wedding.
Sit back, relax, and soak it in.
I'll be there to capture it all, just like we planned.
Post-production is where the bulk of the work is for me. It's also where the magic happens - turning moments into art.
You'll receive your final gallery in around 8 weeks.
Pop the champagne and re-live it all over again.
Share your custom online gallery with friends/family. Download the photos, make prints, or create a fine art photo album.
"As someone who is super sentimental, I can't say enough how Dave exceeded our expectations!
We are both filled with so many happy tears and emotions right now. Dave, you nailed it!!!!"
I'll arrive bright and early so that I have plenty of time to say hello to everyone, check in about any last minute details, and allow my creativity to start flowing.
My style is largely documentary - capturing unposed, candid moments. But every now and then, when I see the potential for a jaw-dropping image, I might position you in that perfect light. I do also provide guidance during couples portraits and group shots.
My approach is people-first. Meaning it's not only about the pictures. Your wants/needs are mine, and I'll be in your corner no matter the turns in the road, whether it's camera-related or not.
Let's have some fun! There's a good chance you'll find me reminiscing with Mom and Dad, cracking jokes with the groomsmen, or turning it up on the dance floor, camera in hand.
This makes for a more enjoyable experience overall, but I'll let you in on a little secret: it also makes for incredible photos.
A fun byproduct of authentic connections is that it creates comfort. And the more comfortable you and your loved ones are with me, the better I'll be able to capture your intimate moments and treasured feelings. And that's what it's all about.
We've got the hard work out of the way. All the planning, dreaming, and logistics have made way for the main event.
Now what? Enjoy! I'll take the reins so that you're free to soak it all in.
Post-production is where the majority of work lies for a photographer. I'll "touch" every one of the thousands of images from your wedding day, selecting the very best for your final gallery.
I'll tweak the composition, light, colors, and more. I'll convert some into black & white for an artistic and timeless look.
This is where your moments turn into art.
A high-quality, fine art photo album of your most treasured images is something truly special. Because after the cake is eaten, and the flowers have dried up, the photos are all you'll have to remember it all.
Designing your album is a breeze. The online gallery I'll deliver is connected to a professional print shop. This allows you to easily choose your favorite photos, design the album (size, material, layout), and have it shipped to your door.
I'm based in Whitefish, Montana (right outside Glacier National Park), and l love to travel. I'm constantly traveling across Montana, the U.S., and internationally for work.
No travel fees for local weddings. Travel fees for anywhere else is simply the cost to get me there + overnight accommodation. I'll do the leg work on booking my travel so you don't have to.
All the good ones! Some photographers offer packages that charge you more $ for more photos. I don't do that. When you hire me, the full gallery is yours to download, print, whatever!
The exact number of photos I deliver varies. A rough estimate: Maybe around a thousand for a full wedding day. Maybe around a hundred for a short portrait session.
For weddings: Sneak peek photos within 72 hours. Full gallery in around 8 weeks.
For portrait sessions: Sneak peek photos within 72 hours. Full gallery in around 3 weeks.
This depends. I can typically shoot everything myself without a problem. A second photo shooter is great for two reasons: 1) If you have a large wedding at a spread out venue and/or have a tight day-of Timeline. 2) You simply want to make sure we capture as many angles and moments as possible. If you're unsure, let's chat about it when you inquire, and we'll figure out what's best for your situation.
I'll deliver the final photos via an online gallery that's connected to a professional photo printing lab. The lab allows you to print any of your photos at any size you like. It also provides the option to create a high-quality, fine art photo album.
Alternatively, you can download the digital files and print them with any photo printing company such as Walgreens or Walmart. I will caution that this option is typically cheaper and the quality of the prints will also be cheaper. One problem you could experience is that the colors of the photos from these cheaper printing options might not match the colors as you see them on your computer.
If possible, I highly recommend booking an engagement session (you'll get a discount if I'm shooting your wedding). Engagement sessions usually happen months before the wedding, but I work with couples from all over the country, so getting together before the wedding isn't always feasible.
That said, working together before the wedding is a HUGE benefit. Aside from receiving beautiful photos to mark your engagement, you'll also become comfortable with my style and being in front of the camera. That means when your wedding day arrives, you'll feel at ease. I'll feel more like a friend that you're able to be yourself around, rather than a stranger sticking a camera in your face. And trust me, this makes a big difference in the quality of photos I'm able to get.
Short answer is: yes, you can have the RAW photos for an additional fee.
Longer answer is: This is a controversial topic in the photography world, with strong opinions on either side. There can also be confusion because laypeople often use the term "raw" as a general term, but to professionals, "RAW" has a very specific meaning (it refers to the type of digital image file).
Before deciding if you want the "RAW" photos, let's have a chat to make sure there's an understanding of exactly what you'll be getting.
For weddings, the short answer is: no. Technically, I could pull it off, but I'm committed to providing the highest quality service possible. And it's just not possible, in my opinion, to provide that high quality service while switching between photo and video (at least for a one or two person team).
Longer answer: To provide wedding photo & video at the same time, I'd need to hire a team of assistants. I've worked on large photo/video teams, but I prefer to keep my business lean. I choose to specialize and do one thing very well, rather than generalize and do many things 'just okay.'
In most cases, no. In rare cases, yes, and additional fees may apply.
First, understand that I cull out all but the most flattering photos of you. I also make minor adjustments to all the images so that the final photos are as beautiful as possible - i.e. removing a blemish from a close-up shot, cropping out distracting elements, etc.
Photoshop is used to make more complicated & time-intensive adjustments - i.e. to remove a person/object entirely, to make someone look skinnier, to remove all pores/wrinkles from a face.
I choose to rarely use Photoshop to make these major alterations because: 1) My photography style includes documenting your event how it really was, not creating "fake" images. 2) Photoshopping a single photo can be extremely time-intensive. Multiplying that time by thousands of images for your full wedding gallery would be an enormous undertaking.
That said, I'm happy to chat if you have a special request.
Of course! I hear this all the time. The vast majority of couples I work with aren't used to shooting with professional photographers. Don't worry, those nerves will melt away quickly! I've got all kinds of prompts to help you open up and let your authentic self come across during our portrait sessions. Some prompts are fun/silly, others are sincere/romantic. And of course, your personality and style will influence the prompts and the images we pursue too.
Really, there's no need to stress. Just be yourself and have fun!
After you've sent me an inquiry via my Contact page and we've had a video call to make sure we're the perfect fit, I'll send you a Proposal to look over. Once the Proposal is approved, we'll both sign a formal Contract. Finally, when I receive a 50% Retainer, your date is saved, and we'll be officially be booked!
"His friendly and comfortable approach put us at ease, allowing us to be ourselves in front of the camera. Choosing Dave was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day!"
"I am a professional wedding photographer myself, so when it came to choosing my own wedding videographer, I was extremely picky...
We laughed and we cried, while watching our wedding film, but most of all, we were beyond THANKFUL we hired Dave for our most special day. Hiring Dave as our videographer was the single BEST INVESTMENT we made for our wedding."
"He captured our day and our relationship perfectly!
He was attentive to our wants and a great communicator throughout the whole process. I can't tell you how many times I've watched our video over and CRIED tears of happiness."
